Three brands, all made in India

After India’s security certification rules for network cameras, many buyers narrowed their shortlist to brands that manufacture in India and have certified IP models. CP Plus, PRAMA and Honeywell are three of the most common. All three offer IP cameras and NVRs for homes and businesses; they differ in range breadth, positioning, software and how they are sold.

Features to compare model by model

  • Image sensor and resolution, and performance at night.
  • True WDR rating for backlit entrances.
  • AI: human and vehicle detection, line crossing, face features, and whether they run on the camera or NVR.
  • NVR channels, incoming bandwidth, disk bays and outputs.
  • App quality: live view, playback, alerts and multi-user access.
  • Certification of the exact model, warranty and local service.

Support and warranty

All three brands are sold through distributors and authorised partners in Bangalore. Warranty periods vary by series and model, so get them in writing per item. What matters day to day is how quickly your installer can replace a failed unit; ask about spare stock and response times as well as the brand’s terms.

Mixing brands

Cameras and NVRs of the same brand work best together, with full AI events and one app. Mixing is possible through ONVIF, but advanced analytics and some settings may not carry across. If you are expanding an existing system, staying with the same brand is usually simplest.

Where Hikvision fits in

Hikvision remains widely installed in India, and SightShield supports it. For new IP purchases, certification is model by model, and press reports in April 2026 said Chinese makers’ network cameras were not receiving certification in practice — one reason many buyers are choosing among these three.

An example decision

A chain of three clinics in Bangalore compared quotes from all three brands for 12 cameras per clinic. The chosen system was decided less by brand than by specifics: the cameras with the best true WDR at glass entrances, an NVR with enough disk bays for 45 days, and a single app that the clinic manager found easiest. Certification for each model was confirmed in writing before purchase.

Our recommendation
