Who makes PRAMA

PRAMA cameras and recorders are made by Prama India Private Limited, which opened a large manufacturing facility at Vasai, near Mumbai, in October 2019. The company describes it as an integrated plant covering production and testing of video surveillance products. PRAMA is sold through distributors and installers across India and has become one of the main choices for buyers who want IP cameras manufactured in the country.

Certification for sale in India

Network cameras sold in India must be tested under the Essential Requirements for Security of CCTV and registered model by model. STQC has issued certification covering PRAMA-brand network cameras manufactured by Prama India at Vasai. As with any brand, ask for the certification of the exact model in your quotation, since coverage is per model.

Planning a PRAMA system

  • List every area to cover and what you need to see there — activity, faces or number plates.
  • Choose AI models for perimeter and gate cameras where alerts matter.
  • Use colour night vision at gates, porches and parking with some ambient light.
  • Use true-WDR cameras inside glass entrances.
  • Size the NVR for channels, incoming bandwidth and retention, with spare capacity.
  • Put the NVR, PoE switch and router on a UPS.

Upgrading from analog to PRAMA IP

Many older systems in Bangalore homes and offices are analog DVR setups. Moving to PRAMA IP cameras usually means running Cat6 cable instead of coaxial, though existing conduits and routes can often be reused. The result is sharper images, AI alerts, PoE power over one cable and models certified for sale in India.

App and recording

PRAMA systems are viewed through the brand’s mobile and desktop software, with live view, playback, alerts and multi-user access. As with any system, secure it with unique passwords, two-factor login where available, firmware updates and no port forwarding.

An example

A 60-flat apartment complex in Hennur replaced an old analog system with 32 PRAMA IP cameras, using AI detection on perimeter cameras and colour night vision at the gate and basement ramp. Recording on a 32-channel NVR for 30 days satisfied the association’s retention policy, and guards now receive alerts for after-hours movement in the parking area.

Our view

PRAMA is one of the brands SightShield installs, alongside CP Plus, Honeywell and Hikvision. We recommend the brand and model that best fit your site, and confirm certification for each IP model we quote.
