The market in 2026
India’s surveillance-camera market was about $3.5 billion in 2024 and is forecast to reach $7 billion by 2030, according to Counterpoint Research as reported by Reuters in May 2025. The same report estimated CP Plus at about 48% of the market and Hikvision and Dahua together at about 30%.
The biggest change is regulatory. Since April 2025, each IP camera model needs security certification under MeitY’s Essential Requirements, and from April 2026 non-certified cameras can no longer be sold. Press reports in April 2026 said Chinese makers’ network cameras were in practice not being certified. That has pushed buyers towards India-made ranges.

Best brand by use case
For every IP camera, confirm that the specific model is certified for sale in India before buying.
| Use | What matters most | Brands to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Home with 4–8 cameras | Price, app, night vision | CP Plus, PRAMA, Hikvision (certified models) |
| Shop or showroom | Counter detail, phone viewing, alerts | CP Plus, PRAMA, Honeywell |
| Apartment community | Scale, analytics, AMC support | CP Plus, PRAMA, Honeywell |
| Factory or warehouse | Rugged cameras, long runs, analytics | CP Plus, PRAMA, Honeywell |
| Government or institutional | India-made, procurement rules | Honeywell 50 Series, CP Plus, PRAMA |
How to choose
- Certification first: for IP cameras, confirm the exact model is certified for sale.
- Range: one brand for cameras, recorder and app keeps smart features working together.
- Service: a brand with good local support and warranty handling in Bangalore.
- Fit: Wi-Fi brands for a few rooms at home; full DVR/NVR ranges for everything else.
- Installer: the same brand can perform very differently depending on model choice and installation quality.
How to check a model’s certification
- Ask the seller or installer for the certificate or registration details of the exact model number.
- Check that the model number on the certificate matches the quotation and the box.
- Be cautious of very cheap IP cameras without clear certification.
- Keep the certificate details with your invoice.
