Honeywell’s India-made cameras
In June 2025 Honeywell launched its first CCTV camera portfolio designed and manufactured in India, the 50 Series. According to Honeywell, the cameras were developed at its Bengaluru development centre and are manufactured with the Indian electronics company VVDN Technologies. The launch positioned Honeywell for government and enterprise projects that prefer locally made equipment.
What the 50 Series offers
- 3MP and 5MP cameras in dome and bullet forms.
- Built-in video analytics.
- Gyro-based image stabilisation, useful on poles and structures that vibrate.
- Cybersecurity features, in line with India’s new CCTV security requirements.
- Qualification as a "Class 1" local supplier under Make in India public-procurement rules, according to Honeywell.
Who it is aimed at
Honeywell targets government, healthcare, education, transport, commercial and real-estate customers. That fits its reputation in building systems: many large buildings already use Honeywell for fire alarms, access control or building management. Honeywell was also the implementing partner for Bengaluru’s Safe City project, according to press reports.
Honeywell compared with other brands we install
These are general positions; individual models vary widely. We compare exact models for each project rather than brands in the abstract.
| Honeywell | CP Plus | PRAMA | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Positioning | Enterprise and institutional projects | Broadest range from homes to enterprise | Indian brand with consumer to pro ranges |
| Manufacturing | 50 Series designed and made in India | Large Indian presence and manufacturing | Indian company with local manufacturing |
| Strength | Building-systems integration, procurement fit | Choice, price points, availability | Value and India focus |
| Typical buyer | Government, hospitals, campuses, commercial | Homes, shops, offices, factories | Homes, SMEs, projects |
When to choose Honeywell
- Government, PSU or institutional projects that require India-made equipment.
- Hospitals, campuses and commercial buildings that standardise on Honeywell building systems.
- Sites with vibration (poles, bridges, industrial structures) where stabilisation helps.
- For homes and small shops, CP Plus or similar ranges usually offer more options at lower cost.
Working with other systems
Large sites rarely run cameras in isolation. They want CCTV events next to fire alarm, access control and building management in one control room. Honeywell’s strength in building systems helps there. For mixed-brand sites, check that cameras support ONVIF — the open standard that lets cameras and recorders from different makers work together, usually through ONVIF Profile S for video streaming and Profile T for newer features — and confirm analytics events pass to the recorder or video management software you plan to use.
Getting the right model
As with every brand, the exact model matters more than the logo. Ask for full model numbers, datasheets and certification status in the quotation, and make sure the recorder and software are compatible with the analytics you want.
