An automatic gate needs eyes
An automatic gate controls who can enter; a camera shows who actually did. Together they answer the questions that matter after an incident — which vehicle came in at 11:40 pm, who held the gate open for a stranger, whether the gate was hit by a truck — and they make remote opening safe, because you can see the gate before you press the button.
Ways to combine them
| Integration | What it does |
|---|---|
| Gate camera | Records everyone and every vehicle passing through |
| Gate event to NVR | Each opening marks the recording, so you can jump straight to it |
| Number plate recognition (ANPR) | Opens for registered vehicles and logs plates |
| Video door phone at the gate | Visitors are seen and spoken to before the gate opens |
| App view before remote open | Check the gate area live before opening or closing from your phone |
| Alerts | Notification if the gate is forced, left open or opened at odd hours |
Positioning the gate camera
- One camera facing inward to capture drivers and faces of people entering.
- One facing outward, or a narrower lens, for number plates where vehicles slow at the gate.
- Colour night vision or good lighting so plates and clothing are clear at night.
- WDR for gates that face bright roads or the afternoon sun.
- Coverage of the gate leaf and its travel path, for damage and safety review.
Number plate recognition
ANPR cameras read plates and compare them with a list of registered vehicles; matching vehicles trigger the gate or barrier automatically. ANPR works best where vehicles slow down or stop, with the camera at the right angle and distance, and lighting tuned for plates at night. It suits apartments, offices and factories with many regular vehicles. Visitors still go through a guard or video door phone.
Boom barriers for apartments and factories →Remote opening safely
Opening and closing the gate from an app is convenient, but a gate closing on a child, pet or vehicle is a real danger. Always check the camera view before operating remotely, and make sure photocells and safety edges work so the gate stops and reverses on an obstruction regardless of who pressed the button.
Gate safety sensors and photocells →Logs that link access and video
- Gate controller logs show who opened the gate with which remote, card or app.
- NVR events mark the moment, so the clip is one click away.
- Apartments can link visitor app entries to gate video.
- Factories can link gate passes and weighbridge slips with video of each truck.
For villas
A typical villa setup is a gate motor with remotes and app control, a video door phone at the gate, and one or two cameras covering the gate and driveway. When a visitor rings, you see them on your phone, speak to them, open the gate, and the camera records the arrival.
Gate automation with a video door phone →An example
A manufacturing unit in Jigani added ANPR at its main gate for 60 staff vehicles, a camera on the boom barrier, and gate events linked to the NVR. Security now finds any vehicle’s entry in seconds by plate number, unregistered vehicles are stopped for the guard to check, and a dispute about a truck damaging the gate was settled with the clip on the same day.
One installer for both
We install gate automation, boom barriers, video door phones and CCTV, so the gate and cameras are planned and integrated together.
